Awards Program Information
The Tallahassee chapter sponsors Chapter Awards to formally recognize individuals or organizations who have promoted excellence in government accountability and financial management. The Chapter Awards Committee has proposed the four awards briefly described below to be presented during the current chapter year.  Click on the links below for further details, including nomination instructions and submission deadlines.  We have tried to make submitting a nomination a simple task. You know someone who deserves recognition – take a few minutes to submit a nomination!
Award Categories
 
  • Advancing Government Accountability Award - The Tallahassee Chapter will present one award to formally recognize major contributions to advancing government accountability, particularly through participation in the Association of Government Accountants. Nominees must be members in good standing of the AGA Tallahassee Chapter. The recipient will be formally recognized at a special award ceremony during the Chapter's annual professional development conference in March 2012.

    • Deadline: The original nomination package must be received by 5 pm Eastern time on Friday, March 2, 2012.
    • 2010-11 Recipient: Sue Graham, Lead IT Auditor, Florida Auditor General’s Office (presented on February 11, 2011)
  • Excellence in Government Leadership Award – The Tallahassee Chapter will present one award to a government professional who exemplifies and promotes excellence in government, outstanding leadership, high ethical standards and innovative management procedures. Nominees do not have to be members of AGA. The recipient will be formally recognized at a special awards ceremony during the June 2012 monthly luncheon meeting. (In subsequent years, this award may be presented at the Chapter's annual professional development conference.)

    • Deadline: The original nomination package must be received by 5 pm Eastern time on May 4, 2012.
    • 2010-11 Recipient: Dr. Gary W. Yancey, Vice President for Administrative Services for Northwest Florida College (presented on  June 15, 2011)
  • Early Career Emerging Leader Award – The Tallahassee Chapter will present one or more awards to recognize younger government financial mangers for notable contributions toward excellence in financial management. It is hoped that this recognition will encourage others to achieve early in their professional lives. Nominees do not have to be members of AGA. The recipient will be formally recognized at a special awards ceremony during the June 2012 monthly luncheon meeting.
  • Tallahassee Chapter Author Award – The Tallahassee Chapter will present one or more awards to recognize individuals who have submitted valuable articles for the Chapter Newsletter. It is hoped that this award will encourage submittal of articles of interest to AGA Tallahassee Chapter members and participants. Nominees do not have to be members of AGA. The recipient will be formally recognized at a special awards ceremony during the June 2012 monthly luncheon meeting.
